Are you eligible for the University Bursary?

This bursary offers £1,900 per year to help with costs like travel, books, and living expenses while you study for your first undergraduate degree at a UK university. Before you start your application, please read the below carefully to see if you’re eligible:

  • You’re 17–24 years old when applying
  • You’ve lived in Wiltshire or Swindon for at least two years (or your family home is there if you’re already at university)
  • You’re eligible for Student Finance England
  • You’re planning to study (or already studying) your first undergraduate degree

AND either:

  • You or your parents/guardians get at least two means-tested benefits or two elements of Universal Credit

OR

  • You’re a looked after child in the care of Wiltshire Council or Swindon Borough Council

If you have already applied for Student Finance (tuition fee and maintenance loan), you would have provided details about the benefits and salary information as part of this process. You may find it useful to refer to your Student Finance application when completing this section.











Education and Qualifications

This section helps us to understand what you are currently doing, what your predicted grades might be or your actual grades if you have already taken your exams.






University / UCAS Applications

This section helps us to understand your university applications and why you have chosen them. You may find it useful to refer to your UCAS application form when completing this section.

In the UCAS Referee section, please provide the name and contact details of the person who provided your UCAS academic reference. If you are already at university, please provide the name of tutor/lecturer who will be able to provide an academic reference for you.

Supporting Documents

As well as completing this form, we also need you to provide supporting documents to confirm you are eligible to apply. The below documents can either be uploaded here or emailed to applications@wscf.org.uk. If you have any questions please contact the Grants Team on 01380 738985.

  1. Proof of your Wiltshire/Swindon address - bill/letter/driving licence confirming your address in Wiltshire or Swindon
  2. Proof of your age - birth certificate, passport or driving licence
  3. Confirmation of UCAS application letter/email which confirms application has been made
  4. UCAS personal statement 
  5. UCAS Academic Reference - this would have been provided by your tutor/teacher please ask them for a copy
  6. Financial Evidence - the University Bursary is means-tested, this means that you will need to provide copies of documents that demonstrate your household’s annual income. We need to see evidence for each parent/guardian in the household as detailed below. All documents must be clear, readable and show the name and address of the person they relate.
    1. Means tested benefits - evidence of two means tested benefits you or your parent/guardian(s) receive. The below is a guide on what evidence to supply depending on the benefits you or they receive:
      • Tax Credits - Award notice 2025/26 in full – all 6 pages (or 4 pages if it is your review document)
      • Universal Credit - Statements in full – all pages. Select print on your online statement and choose ‘save as a pdf’. Upload the pdf statement to your bursary application.
      • Income Support, JSA, ESA or the guaranteed element of Pension Credit - Current DWP Notification letter and most recent bank statement showing payment.
    2. Annual salary - evidence of your parent/guardian(s) salary if they are working. The below is a guide on what evidence to supply depending on their employment status:
      • Most recent payslip, P60 or P45. If self-employed, most recent accounts or self-assessment tax return.

e.g. bill/letter/driving licence confirming your address in Wiltshire or Swindon

e.g. driving licence, birth certificate, passport

e.g. letter/email which confirms an application has been made

If you are already at university, please provide proof of this e.g. picture of student ID

The personal data will be used only for the purposes of administering this grant programme.
